I've had several piano teachers over the years, beginning in childhood and later in adulthood, but none of them was able to explain things in a way I could always fully understand.
Then along came Willie. I found him on You Tube and immediately liked what I saw and heard. Soon I had signed up for the free 7-day trial and now I'm a full-fledged member in the Jazz Piano category working through my first month. I'm slowly developing more confidence at the keyboard and while I know I'll never be Bill Evans, I'm having a lot of fun. Willie, keep up the good work!!

Willie's instruction is by far OUTSTANDING. My focus is cocktail piano and he provides the advanced level instruction that I need, along with basics in areas that I am weak in. What's great is that you can custom select what you want to focus on. The extra tidbits of information he provides within the lessons are wonderful little gems. Even when I listen to topics that I think I know, I end up learning more! Willie's enthusiasm is delightful and his clarity in instruction is remarkable.

Yesterday evening I saw the light and I now understand drop-2-voicing. I purchased the famous Drop-2-voicing book and also found a page on the Internet from Berklee about drop-2-voicing. But the bright light was shed by Willie only and nobody else. I even understood things new to me. Willie explains this better then the drop2-book in my humble opinion. Today I would probably even be able to lecture on the subject. So once again a big hand for Willie!

I find a lot of good stuff in your online-school. Sheet music-material and video-material and audio-material is welldone and helpful for improving technic of playing as well as understanding the relationship of different components in jazz-music.

This is an excellent website. I've been working at improvisation for several years, but Willie Myette has given me a ton of fresh ideas about reharmonization--something I'd never--not being a professionally-trained musician--really considered before. Additionally, the site is very deep--with hours of practical, instructional videos on applying these concepts to standards (e.g., "All of Me," "Autumn Leaves," "Georgia") as well as to Christmas songs. Willie Myette really knows how to create popular music for public performance, and I'm very happy I found this site.

…what I like most about Willie’s instructional procedures is that he doesn’t spend a lot of time “just talking”. He shows you (through his visuals) exactly what he is talking about. And we all know that a picture is worth a thousand words. I also believe in the old adage that “if the student fails to learn, the instructor has failed to teach.” I’ve learned quite a bit from Willie, thus, his instructional method is proof positive that he is an excellent teacher.

I have been a student of Willie for a couple of years. Before I found jazzpiano I was taking private jazz piano lessons, spending a lot of money and would come home completely frustrated! Willies online teaching approach has been a blessing for me and has taken my piano playing to a level I thought would take me many more years.

Very clearly presented, in a personable manner. Using overhead camera angles helps with understanding of which fingerings to adopt. Overall, gives the modern player what he or she needs in order to start playing with other musicians and to develop musicality.
